Weekly Cooking Classes

Weekly cooking classes at Petits Chefs Academy are a great opportunity to sharpen life-skills and stir-up creativity! Join us each week as we explore a veritable smorgasbord of dishes. Each month is based on a different theme with new recipes each week. One month we may be discovering new tastes from culinary masters such as Rachael Ray and Jamie Oliver while another we may be soaking up the traditions of old world dishes of Italian Cuisine.

Not only will we be cooking, we will be plunging into knowledge from the basic cognitive subject areas. In truth, any recipe prepared at Petits Chefs Academy is a chance to explore many topics of study in a fun and interactive setting. Our highly qualified staff of certified Chefs and ECE’s are on hand to make each cooking class a memorable experience for the students. Parents will be surprised to watch as their ‘petits chefs’ grow with confidence and knowledge as they create these recipes at home for them!

Each unique session is designed to familiarize children with diverse foods, while they experience what it feels like to create and taste scrumptious recipes themselves! Building self-confidence, creativity and a life-long skill are important ingredients to the programs.

Petits Chefs will learn basics in:

• kitchen safety

• proper food handling

• food preparation

• cooking and baking techniques

• presentation

• table setting

• manners

• basic cognitive subject matter and so much more!

These courses are designed to help petits chefs explore cuisines while building upon basic skills.

One month we may be discovering new tastes from culinary masters such as Jamie Oliver and the Barefoot Contessa while another week we may be soaking up the traditions of old world dishes of Italian, French, Spanish, Eastern and Asian cuisines.

Kinder Chefs Ages 2.5-5

Where our most “Petits Chefs in training” are the main ingredient!

KinderChefs is a program designed to accommodate our chefs ages 2.5-5. It incorporates recipes, age-appropriate culinary skills, basic nutrition, literature, and movement into 45 minutes – 1 hour class. Paced for the preschool attention span the curriculum is prepared by our highly trained staff in monthly units and will consist of age appropriate themes such as shapes, community helpers, numbers, sing and song, colors, hands on tactile experiences with food preparation.

Classes will be limited to 15 children with 1 Chef and 1 ECE. Let the fun begin!

Petits Chefs 1 (Beginner) Ages 6-8

An overall basic kitchen experience where our students will learn about the different kitchen utensils, what they’re used for, general use of smaller appliances, proper kitchen etiquette & safety, table manners, table setting, presentation, the importance of healthy & nutritional food selection and proper food handling.

Petits Chefs 2 (Intermediate) Ages 6-8

More in depth study and practice of all subjects outlined in Petits Chefs 1 but with a more hands on approach incorporating it with actual cooking & baking.

JR Chefs 1 (Beginner) Ages 8-11

This is a general introduction to cooking using various skills, nutrition guides and literature. There will be different themes and recipes each week allowing for a well-rounded approach to teaching children the skills necessary to develop their love of cooking.

Jr. Chefs classes are designed to allow creativity to mesh with culinary techniques for exciting results!

Upon successful completion the student will receive PCA Badge and/or Certificate. All materials & clean up included.

JR Chefs 2 (Intermediate) Ages 8-11

This is an intermediate level class where students will be able to practice and improve upon what they learned in JR Chefs 1 such as techniques, nutrition, food selection, preparation, menu planning using a variety of recipes and themes.

Must complete quiz and 1 recipe of the month, upon successful completion student will receive PCA Badge and/or Certificate. All materials & clean up included.

SR Chefs 1 (Beginner) Ages 11+

TACKLE THE PURSUIT!

These special PCA classes were designed to accommodate those students who have met specific criteria and who have successfully completed prior cooking courses and are looking for a more in-depth culinary experience. Students will assume more responsibility while developing more in depth knowledge of various foods, new techniques and concepts.

These students are maybe even heading for an extended education and life time career in the culinary arts, arts, chef school, health & wellness, hospitality & tourism, business, liberal arts and sciences.

SR Chefs 2 (Intermediate) Ages 12+

Lead and apply all the skills learned by creating a Petits Chefs Cookbook.

Must complete quiz and 1 recipe of the month, upon successful completion of this program the student will receive a diploma and their name will appear in the published cookbook.

All materials & clean up included.
